So, ultimately I have decided to switch over from Deviantart to an Art Blog on Tumblr. I've been thinking about doing this for a while and I finally decided to go through with it.
There's a lot of reasons I decided on this...
Becoming a "Devstar" which is what I call being Deviantart famous has always been my dream since my earliest days on this site. I've always loved this site and it's community and just all the perks it had to offer.
Like groups, pageviews, the favorite system, and things like that.
I joined Tumblr a while back around the beginning of this year and a couple weeks ago it just hit me. I want to be like those other people who have Art Blogs. I've seen a lot of art blogs long before I came to this decision and always admired them. For one, every art blog i've seen has AMAZING art and are usually very popular. They usually also have Deviantarts where they just don't post as much, like what i'm doing.
The main thing that caused me to come to this conclusion is that although I used to love being in groups and just being a part of the Deviant community, I realize now that... My Art has always been about Deviantart. Like, I wouldn't even draw something unless I had the thought "Oh i'm going to draw this so I can put it on Deviantart".
When I first decided my dream was to be a devstar 3 years ago, I always promised myself I would still draw for me. And while I do, I still feel like Deviantart is holding me back. I'm afraid to try things because if it doesn't turn out good I won't want to post it on Deviantart. I just feel claustrophobic around here nowadays...
Don't get me wrong I like the site I just... don't like it as much as I used to. I realize now I don't actually WANT to be a part of the community anymore... like the thought of just being 'one of the crowd' makes me unhappy now. I guess I don't want to be a Deviant Artist, but an Artist. I want my Artwork to actually be about me, and not about Deviantart.
I don't know how to explain it quite right but I guess having an Art Blog seems more like my Art is actually mine and i'm not just one of the crowd. I guess it's kind of self-centered but I just want my Art to be about me.
Tumblr has much more freedom when it comes to CSS coding and stuff too. So I can make a page that compliments my Artwork as a whole much more so than Deviantart with it's extreme limitations on that. You can only customize custom boxes so it's impossible to have a theme if you have other widgets xD
I feel like this is going to help me improve my art a lot. And another thing that makes me happy, This isn't a REASON i'm leaving but just something I thought of after I made my decision that is a plus, but for as long as I can remember I have been a fucking DRAMA MAGNET. And when I really think about it, no where do I attract more drama then on Deviantart. I get into things at school too and things have happened on other websites a long time ago, but Deviantart has always really been the source of it.
I'm not going to delete my account(incaseichangemymind), or stop checking messages or anything, I'm just not going to be posting art here anymore. I might post something big occasionally, but for now i'm going to focus on Tumblr.
It also feels good to have one less site to worry about looking FANTASTIC at first glance. I always spent more time working on my front page then my actual art here. I do hope you guys make an effort to keep up with my work! Lots of notes on my stuff would make me happy! xD
I plan to continue supporting my friends by watching them and collecting favorites and such, and I'm going to stay watching a few groups because Deviantart is still a good source of inspiration.
I'm taking my art in my own direction. Flying solo~!
I guess it's the thought of being in a community that isn't JUST ABOUT ART, that really appeals to me. I guess you could argue that it's not too hard to get popular on Deviantart but I just feel like it's a little more unique and fresh to be an artist on Tumblr then on Deviantart. I mean come on... DeviantART. Gee, I wonder what people do there? But on Tumblr it's so much more wide ranged and free. You don't know what a person will dedicate their blog to until you look!
And this way, ...this is one of the BEST perks, is I don't have to fucking censor anything or worry about getting banned if I post my art with copyrighted music attached!(likeifIdidananimationorsomething)
I don't have to post my NSFW stuff somewhere else. It's just all there!
I don't know, I could go on forever I guess. I can't really get it all into words the way I wish I could. I'm not writer. But yeah...
I do hope you all follow me there~!!!!

*By the way my blog isn't super pretty yet. I'm still working on it.

Look, they gave me a badge with my name on it, in case I forget who I am. Very thoughtful, as that does happen.
